FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – The Brazilian Business Group, in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University, successfully hosted the seventh edition of the Brazil-Florida Summit on November 18th at the prestigious Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale.
This year’s theme, “From the Amazon to the Everglades… A sustainability journey through Cop 30,” focused on the city of Belém as the host of COP 30. The summit delved into Belém’s experiences in ecotourism and sustainability, drawing parallels with initiatives in the state of Florida.
Ambassador Andre Odenbreit Carvalho honored the event by delivering the Opening Remarks, setting the tone for an impactful summit. Distinguished speakers from Belém included Mr. Jose Eduardo Pereira da Costa, Secretary of Tourism of Para, Mr. Rubens Magno, Superintendent of Sebrae of the State of Para, and Mr. Antonio Luiz Ferro de Souza, Director of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Procession.
The summit featured three insightful panels with renowned speakers, including FAU Professor Dr. Annette LaRocco, President and CEO of the FAU Research Park Mr. Andrew Duffell, Mr. Rodrigo Fonseca, General Manager of Apex Miami, and Paola Isaac Baraya, representing Broward County.
Attendees were treated to a delicious lunch, and the installation of the 2024 Brazilian Business Group Board members marked a significant moment in the event.
The summit provided a unique opportunity to explore Belém, recognized as the capital of the Amazon, and learn about its cultural significance, including hosting one of the world’s biggest processions.
